Why Join? PDF Print

Why develop and register your own courses when we can save you money, time and effort?

The Association can provide you with quality approved training courses, which because they have been pre-registered with the JAUPT (Joint Approvals Unit for Periodic Training) you can register as your own courses and offer cost effective periodic training on a 'Pay As You Go' basis.

The courses will come complete with training notes and references to training aids, many of which can be obtained free of charge. Some training aids will need to be purchased, often because of copyright issues.

Putting the case...

There is currently no one body which can deal with the full range of driver CPC training issues and represent the interests of trainers. The Association is raising the profile of Trainers and is in discussions on behalf of trainers with key stakeholder bodies: DSA, DVLA, Go-Skills,Skills for Logistics and the recognised trade bodies and aims to facilitate better communications across the transport industry training sector.

Getting Trainers  views heard...

Seeking opinions through Member meetings and surveys and passing on these views to key stakeholders, such as the DSA.

Getting matters sorted...

Taking part in Driver CPC consultation exercises, such as the development of a Driver CPC handbook, development of standardised training plans and training qualifications.
It is intended that Members come together at meetings and seminars and through the website to consider matters of concern and then set out to resolve them.

Getting things delivered...

The Association isl identifying where it can best help Members to achieve consistency across the provision of driver CPC periodic training. The Association of Trainers intends to facilitate development of Standardised Training Lesson Plans.

Setting up group purchasing...

The Association already offers the best value by group buying, such as with course booklets and the developing and production of quality visual materials at reasonable prices.

Supporting the individual trainer...

The Association believes that the current JAUPT trainer requirements are far too loose and could lead to sub-standard delivery of driver CPC courses. The Association promotes quality training at a minimum standardand of Level 3.

The Association is working with the Sector Skills Councils ('Go-Skills' and 'Skills for Logistics') in encouraging and supporting the Continuing Professional Development for Trainers to assist in career development and to assist Trainers to improve on their professionalism and personal skills.
